and this week is ALL about hearts.
I find that holiday weeks can be particularly stressful, especially with 3 small kids in the house. We've spent our week, outside of full-time jobs, crafting Valentine's cards and bagging them up with sweets. We made Valentine's boxes only to discover that bags were being used in class this year instead. This morning, we dropped off 3 kids, dressed in either red or pink, at 3 separate schools and wished them a happy party day.
They'll come home tonight, sufficiently sugared up and rambunctious, and I'm planning to do my HEART a favor and LAUGH my way through it because...well...what else can you do?
Honestly, it's a good rule for the office as well. It counts as cardio after all!
Laughter gets your heart pumping, and while it's no replacement for the gym, a good laugh can burn the same amount of calories as walking. It also strengthens your immune system, so, whether you have little ones who bring home ALL the germs or coworkers who refuse to admit they're sick and keep their germs at home, it could help you to ward off the next round of sickness. Additionally, laughter lowers blood pressure by reducing stress hormones and these effects can last up to 24-hours.
Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh.
As English poet Lord Byron once said: “Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine”.
